We're from the Matautia family of Sataua. Would you happen to have any more info on that side of the family?

Our greatx3 grandfather was Matautia Si'itauoi who married a lady named Itagia of Falealupo, but not sure which family though. their son was Matautia Logovi'i & his son was Matautia Taulalo, all from Sataua.

any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi There. My name is Christopher Kilisi Sola. My father's mother was Afatasi Brown. She married Muluga Su'a/Sola from Ti'avea. Their children were Fagavili (Tauanu'u/Sola), Sa'olotoga (Sola), Tautalafua (Su'a), Afiamalu (no matai), Kilisi (Iputau from Lefaga), Isaako (Sola who was my father) and possibly Tusitala who was lost at sea whilst fishing. I don't think theere were any girls. I have always wanted to know where my grandmother's
'BROWN' heritage came from. Something I regret not asking my father about. I have found your blog very interesting because I have been wanting to leave some understanding of who I am to my children and theirs. Blessings :) :)

Hi Miriama,
Hoping you might be able to help. You mentioned in your post that Jane Brown married twice - I know the first was to Tupuola from Fagaloa but who was the second? Do you know their children. I too have connections to Fagaloa - in fact my family live right where they call "Afulilo". This is so facinating - I am so excited about this research I can't put it down. Wishing you the best of luck with your family tree. I may have some information you would be interested in. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.

Christian,
Yes thanks so much for posting this information. I have for a long time been searching for answers with regards to my BROWN Heritage and you have helped me on my way. A lot of the information has been handed to me by word of mouth so it's a matter of sorting through to find truth from fiction. My family are the BROWN's from Malaela & Mata'utia's from Salea'aumua in Aleipata. Keep up the great work.

Talofa lava. My name is Joan Posia Meki. I am the daughter of Tavita and Vaifoa "Otila" Meki of Masausi & Afao AMerican Samoa. I am the grandchild of -Late Grandfather Fonoti Ioane Jr. Brown 1953: Title Fonoti Letaupe of Matatufu. Its really amazing to find out that half of the stories my grandfather used to repeated to me when I was a little girl is true. John Fonoti Brown used to come and visit us in American Samoa and wanting me to visit him in W. Samoa and meet the family down there, but I didnt acknoledge. Now I am a grown woman, I will like to meet my aiga. I am now in Seattle, WA with my family and will be visiting Western Samoa by the end of the year. One of my main reason of visiting Samoa is to check on grandfather's grave and will be gladly love to meet everyone. I believe that is all for now until next time. Tofaina ma ia Manuia

Hey, great blog and awesome research. It's great to see the family line go all the way back to its origins. I wonder, do you have any information on Nofoatolu Tamasipani? That's as far back as I can go off the top of my head. Any information on him would be greatly appreciated or a point in the right direction.

Tamasipani's son held the Nofoatolu title, Nofoatolu Setu. His other son Kalolo had a daughter (my great grandmother) Sosofa. Her son was my paternal grandfather Leau Timu Salevao, who when it was his turn to take the Nofoa tolu title, declined which the family still talk about to this very day.

I have little knowledge of this side of my ancestory, and have only kept in touch with a few that I actually know of.

Any information on this line from Lufilufi would be great!

Keep up the good work :)

Fonoti Chris
I truly appreciate this website of yours! Heaps of thanks a hundredfold for posting up the pictures of Tuimanu'a' SaAli'atama's descendants. Priceless! I initially come across a reference (years ago)to TuiManu'a'Ali'atamas descendants meeting with I believe it mentioned Malietoa ,sometime I believe perhaps its the late 1800s, and here are it is!
Thank you for having this website and for continuing the tireless and oftentimes thankless work of sharing and perpetuating the storehouse of our people's culture and traditions.
