Vision of Virgin Mary in Samoa 16 Sep 2009.

Vision mystery:
Hundreds of people stood vigil overnight yesterday and Monday to witness a vision of the Virgin Mary. The weathering mark on the wall at the John William building at Tamaligi has the appearance and shape of the Holy Mother Mary with a rosary in her hands. Some people interpreted this vision as St Theresa another Saint of the Catholic Church. Others said its the shape of a Coca Cola bottle.

A spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Archbishop, Father Spatz Silva, said this is a message for all people. Its a wake up call for us Christians to meditate on, Fr Silva said. This is something people should look deeply into. Look at yourself and ask if you are still walking the path Jesus wants us to take. When asked about his thoughts as to why the vision appears at the John William Building rather than a Catholic Building and his reply was God appears anywhere. The place is not important but the persons belief is, he said. Fr Spatz said God is appearing to us anytime but our eyes can not see Him. He said the Catholic Church at this stage does not accept this vision as an official vision for the church. We have to investigate it, he said. To see if it relates to the Bible and the message from God.

This message, he said, is for all Christians to keep the faith and stay away from sin. He told of another appearance of the Holy Mother Mary to a child named Michael at the Immaculate Conception Church at Mulivai. The Church accepted it as an official vision after investigations and meditations and it relates to the Word of God to always pray and stay away from sin. This vision, says some of the EPC workers, came from rain water from a gutter on the sixth floor which forms a shape of a lady believed to be Mother Mary. Hundreds of people gathered there on Monday and yesterday to witness the vision. The President of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, Rev Elder Situfu Tanielu said this is a message for all Christians to know. He also believes the image.

Image significant, says missionary:
The image which draws hundreds of people at the John William building is significant. This was the view from the executive secretary of Council For World Mission in London, Elizabeth Joy. She leads a group of missionaries from all over the world on a mission targeting youth here in Samoa. This mission is at the Malua Theological College for one week. Mrs Joy said the image is a very meaningful sign. “I tell you this symbol is very, very significant and its a sign of God with us always,” she said.

She explained to her personally as a missionary, this sign tells us the people of Samoa that God is pleased at what we are doing as Christians. We have to keep on having faith in the Lord,’ she said. She revealed Mother Mary whose image is seen at the John William building is respected by all denominations as a saint for the whole world. “She is a saint we respect and the message she is telling us is to keep the faith and justice of Christ,” she said.
